Title: First sign of the battery dying?
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 29 May 2010, 16:24:45
Hi All,

Most days now, my keyfob dosn't work when I go to the car in the morning (even though the red light flashes), and I have to open with the key setting the alarm off! >:(

However, when she's been running for abit or done a few miles the keyfob works fine.... ::)

I havn't got round to testing the battery yet, but could this be the first sign its on its way out? :-?

Cheers in advance  :y :y

Hi,

Im having the same problems as well, keyfob will only open the car now and again, new battery in it as well. Im guessing my car battery is on its way out as when I remove the keys from the ignition I get a long squeel

Cheers,
Iain

Checked my battery today and got 12.97v and then 14v (ish)  when running which then went down to 13v (ish) after I turned everything on.

This seems OK to me, but I'm no autoelectrician!! :-/

what did you use to test with as should not jump 12.97-14v, 13-14volts is good on running but if drops to 12v charge wile running  its not charging properly

I used a digital multi-meter. It was reading about 13v when the engine was running with everything turned on.  :-?

sounds about right with every thing on try with  everthing off and just engine running then with every thing off should see how good battery is charging on meter.
