Title: Xenon headlight message fix
Post by: Sixstring on 01 June 2010, 09:24:41
Just a thought, comments welcomed please.

If the headlight aim message comes and goes on its own,( as it does on mine), and both the sensors have been changed for good ones......could the fact that the rear self levelling shocks have been changed for HD non adjustable non self levelling ones make a difference? the compressor still fires up and stops after a minute, but driving along on a flat motorway, the message appears, and then goes off a couple of miles later. Likewise, it ALWAYS happens on a slope, or going downhill, and then dissapears on a flat road.
Have tested and exchanged sensors, they are out of the equation, swapped BOTH from my mates elite, mine work fine in his, I have both his in mine at the mo.

Stumped now. :-/

Yeah....doesn't read anything sinister, no faults either.

And, if you take off the levers from the suspension arms and move them up and down, the lights move too.

Strange.

Had field vision problem on the Estate - it was a corroded/broken wire between front wheel sensor and motors - cut, cleaned and rejoined - problem solved :y

Ah.....but mine comes and goes, and doesn't reappear if you tyrap up the sensor arms in one position........so they must be working ok. The only conclusion I can come to, is must be the fact my rear self levelling suspension has been changed for non adjusting ones not allowing the senors to work correctly.

HID self levelling headlights & self levelling suspension are two quite separate things. No connection at all.  :y :y :y

if you have self leveling suspension on the rear (air shocks)
would you need a rear headlight adjuster on the rear.

(height being constant)
do you follow my thought??

will have a look at my car tomorrow to see how many levers there are.

Assuming HIDs, you'll have 3. One one each rear radius arm & one on the front near side wishbone.  ;)
