Hi all...
I have a nokia car phone kit , but would like to use the built in Microphone in the cars map reading lights thingy..... If I cut the nokias microphone does anyone know which wires I need to connect to the built in microphone ??
Thanks Ploppy :y

pretty certain that mic is unsuitable, moreso if its a facelift...
-
Ive got a microphone thing or speaker in my centre console, just above the stereo (facelift) whats it for?
-
I'm guessing you mean the climate control air sampling fan - although as you have a GLS this is probably not present in your car
-
Havent got a clue? :-/
Just looks like a speaker or mic to me lol. Didnt know if it was for the TM or anything.
-
I would remove the old mic from its location and replace with the new one in its place - that way it can still be fitted unobtrusively
Don`t waste time messing with the wires, new mic will undoubtedly come with a long enough lead to just run the cable around the windscreen behind the trim, and far quicker than trying to use what is already there.

Thanks all...

When you park your phone in the car phone home bracket does it become a incar carphone ie:- mutes ice system on incomeing call-also same on dial out, also incomeing sound comes over car speakers, also sound from cabin goes to speakerphone mode to caller. I don't think outgoing sound uses the phone mic but the in car mic I'm no electronic expert and could be wrong.Phew!! hope you can understand, mines an old orange brick phone in a proper orange phone arbour and is very hands free and safe in use I have a mic above as you say, always thought it to be part of the phone system.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket kit fitted. Sure it uses the mic in the courtesy light, not a 3rd party one mounted nearby somewhere?

The phone system I have, I removed from my previous car a F/L mv6 before it went away on the low loader. It works as follows, when an incomeing call rings in the ICE mutes then a message appears on the CID, heading is:- BOSE-- EXTERNAL AUDIO SOURCE I then have to accept the call on the phone handset in the usual way, press a button, the callers voice then comes over loud and clear for all the cabin occupants to hear. From the callers point of view the system adopts a conference mode, and all the occupants can talk to the caller. The sound quality is very good it has to be as my Winifred has a hearing aid in both ears and cannot use a mobile phone. If this system is unique I'll be happy to help, all I did was reinstall it on a copy basis from my wrote off MV6

stick your new one in place with some blutack! I had this on my old car and if your mic isnt secure it makes a hell of a racket on the other end of the phone :y

Ah glad its sorted, may be I should have waited and saved myself all that typeing, especially as I lost my 1st post on completion, possibly when you posted your reply. :y :y

If you want to use the car speakers, depending on the age & model it may be pre-wired. There's a connector cable tied up behind the glove box, Dave DND can supply the cable to connect direct to nokia- mine works a treat
