Title: Cruise Control
Post by: Brucie1946 on 28 July 2010, 19:08:50
A few years ago, we fitted cruise control to my pre face 99 MV6, had it programmed with tech 2 and works a treat.  Noticed today with the window open, that when I apply the brakes theres a load click from under the bonnet, as the cruise control actuator disengages as you might say.  Tried it a few times and the click is always there, quite loud.

Nothing untoward with the cable, or any problem of it catching or becoming snagged or the clasp not being able to rotate on the throttle linkage, sounds more like the stepper motor maybe clicking as it deactivates maybe.

Not that I've ever touched the cable before, but theres a clasp arrangement, with push written on it half way along the cable sheilding, it you pull ut upwards to face you it presses down a button, nothing happens though when the toggle clasp is moved, this clasp has always been left flat, so that the button is not pressed, is this an adjustment mechanism?

I've read through TIS2000, and theres no mention of it or symtoms.

Anyone any ideas for both?

Cheers

Dean

Its normal for there to be a loud click, this is as the cable is released (quite fast)

Tech2? not needed for cruise on pre DBW engines..

Hi mate

Thanks for getting back, I'm glad it's normal then, wondered what was going on, was only doing 30, so heard it quite well, thought it was something I disturbed when I sorted the major service I did recently.

Whats that adjuster thing then?

Read on TIS2000 that code 008 inputted in tech 2 tells the car its an x30xe.

just thought the loud click must be the throttle linkage returning back to rest position against its stop, dumbass!

The config matters little to be honest...
