Title: Cambelt Party 23rd Feb....final planning.
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 14 February 2008, 13:58:05
Ok, time is drawing in and there is a lot to get done on the day.

I plan to get there about 8.30am and I feel we need to be doing 4 cars in parralel to get through all the work with some contingency.

So, 4 volunteers needed to focus on cambelts

Marks DTM Calib.

Any others who are compitent at the cambelt work then please add your name above.

Some of the lesser jobs will also need people to support them!

I'm happy to do V6s. Not sure what time I'll arrive. Long journey for me but I may crawl out of my pit early for the fry-up  :P..  I'll bring my V6 locking kit.

More than happy to do whatever is required, i now have 3 sets of 110V 500W lights on stands, so a couple of extra 110V transformers wouldn't go amiss if anyone has one. Most importantly extra bread has been ordered at the snack bar :D

Put me down for overflow support in the afternoon.  I can do V6 cambelts, cam cover gaskets, parking brakes, etc. (even a DIS if you give me 2 days  ::) ) but we are not coming until after lunch.  That way I can help pick up the pieces after you guys do yourselves in!  (If I started at 8 am I'd be useless by 2 anyway.)

edit: Have a 12v lamp can bring.

I may swing by Saturday morning on the way up.  Need an EGR gasket myself (plenum to tube).  Is this the one that tore on mine?  Hat shaped?

With the rad out on mine, would not mind blasting my condensor clear! as it looked a bit clogged.

Hi all,

Regarding Saturday I can help with Pad and Disc change, oil filter change and anything else, BUT I don't know how to do the V6 cambelt change so can't do them. So if someone is willing to do my cambelt change then I can get on with someone else/ your car.

I will be bringing my,
Toll Box
Ramps
Axle stands x2 pairs
Jack
Breaker Bar
Impact wrench
Alloy Wheel Bolt Sockets
V6 locking tool kit (if its turned up by then)
Site Lights (240v)

Paul  :y

P.S I also have a 2.0ltr Cambelt kit as well so if someone needs there's doing but didn't get chance to get one I have one for sale. So if you want to do a swap with me for a V6 thermostat and associated parts then you could have it.

In what way TB?
Should be just a case of removing the caliper and carrier then remove the disc, shouldn't take more than 20 mins each side start to finish.

As a minimum it'll need a fluid change, and possibly a caliper clean.

Where exactly is this going on?

I'm a bit miffed that I won't be picking my new car up until the 29th and it is overdue a belt change >:(, but I'd like to drop in during the day (Please don't laugh at the 306 oil burner) and put some faces to names.

I can bring my boiler suit and a pair of willing hands.

Having noticed that TB mine could do with a change and a caliper clean as well. My calipers seem to be in a disgusting state.

I pulled a muscle buggering about with the handbrake about a week and a half ago.  It still hurts.  I'm guessing it will be even worse by Sunday  after I've turned over a few engines a few times :'(
