My Omega has had a wobbly, it will just about run badly when forced to start on straight lpg with the EML on continually but will not run at all on petrol, i've replaced the crank sensor but that made no difference. Now also showing a auto gearbox fault on the matrix, but am assuming this is related to the running problem.
Had a scanner plugged into it while it was running but this was the only continual fault.
It was running fine on 6 cylinders, then turned it off and it wouldn't restart.
The only thing out of the ordinary was when i turned the key the traffic master did a report like you had just pressed the button.
Any idea which sensor is the hall effect one, had a search and google but didn't turn anything up,
Ideas please???

According to a post I found by Mark's DTM Calib here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1284239235/29#29 - 94 is the cam position sensor..
(A Hall Effect sensor is pretty much any sensor that has a sensor head next to a rotating magnet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect - cam & crank sensors are usual examples of this)

Hall sensor is the cam sensor. Never seen one fail on V6, thus not sure on symptoms. Check wiring.

Thanks, any ideas on where its located and what sort of a job it is to get to? Tried the earths i could find already.

They are right at the top front of the engine. Between the camshafts right next to the metal cambelt cover bracket thingy. Should be two. One on each bank. :y

Ok doesn't sound too bad, do I need the cambelt and pulleys off to access it?

Recognition of more than one phase information during one work cycle with correct reference mark on cam (Short circuit to ground)
Above condition must be fulfilled for at least 40 times.
EFFECTS:
Engine load signal is greater than 3 ms and coolant temperature is greater than 38 °C (100 °F):
The control unit retards the spark timing by up to 10.5 °CA for reasons of safety.
(Value varies depending on the engine speed)
The "Hall Sensor" on the camshaft is used for cylinder recognition. It informs the Motronic ECU of the camshaft position when cylinder 1 ignites. The ECU needs this information for accurate fuel injection control and for adaptive knock control. If the Hall sensor malfunctions the ECU attempts to use a random time for injector/spark actuation. This can cause a poor or non-starting engine. If the engine does start with a malfunctioning cam sensor then expect very poor economy.
TEST:
with engine running 2.5v DC (average)

Have you checked the wiring as I suggested above. V6 cam sensors don't fail. Their cables sometimes get caught under camcovers, aux belts etc etc...

Going to pull it apart this weekend will check more wiring at the same time - its a 200 mile drive to work on it! If that doesn't sort it it's for sale as is or by weight!
