Post by: jonny66 on 28 October 2010, 14:26:30
although its not an omega its still a vauxhall, my brother has managed to earth a live wire on his immobiliser blowing a 20a fuse in the process, now hes got no spark and no fuelpump? the cars a vectra b cd 2.0 16v estate, is there a way of either bypassing the immobiliser or checking to see where the problem may be? any help much appreciated in advance :)

You can`t really expect anyone to advise how to bypass an immobiliser on an open / public forum.

Suggest to contact a local autoelectrician for assistance

Hi,

Normally when the immob is active, the EML flashes when trying to start the car.

If you can get access to a VX specific code reader, it may narrow this down for you. I do have one and have family in Selston, if you are struggling.

If the immob is stuffed, try Derby Vauxhall Spares at Ripley, Jon is personal friend of mine (please feel free to mention my name) and he will supply the black box, chips and ecu a lot cheaper than those guys down the road from you.

Hope that helps.

(I am aware there maybe a way to bypass this, but I don't know how to do it and to be honest would probably prefer not to know.)

well it seems as hes managed to blow the ecu ,so hes got to get a ecu and i guess a chip out of the key that matches the ecu then he should be sorted , he always has to mess lol , he only bought the car this morning ,it was lumpy on tickover but sound throughout the revs, so he paid £200 less for it, got it home ,checked things over, found the loom to be wrongly routed as it looked like the engines been changed, and caught the main live wire to the ecu not the immobiliser . its a lovely looking estate, an irmscher model with proper tints in the rears, but its sat on the drive now, oh and he found a pipe to be off the inlet manifold but doesnt know if its cured the tickover problem cus it dont run  :o ;D  :-/

Not sure it was so good . . .

Down here, squid sells for around £10/Kg so 30 of them sounds quite expensive

 ;D
