Has anyone on here fitted a HID 8000K head light bulb kit to there standard Projector Head lights??
Does it make much of a difference and is it as good as standard HID head-lights fitted to the more EXEC models?
If they have where did you fit the Ballast kit?
And were they easy to install?
And does it show up BULB failure on the HUD?

I just went and won a Brand New set of H1 HID 8000K kit for an amazing £15.00, lol
Should be about £120, but it ended early morning and No-one was bidding, he had 10 sets for sale..
Well nothing really lost here if they are crap..

Leveling I can do from inside the cabin..
But washers, thats strange?? My wifes Renault megane has HID fitted standard and that hasn't got headlight washers??

Afaik..
washers are a legal requirement, as is AUTO levelling...
Not having a go or anything just trying to let you know what may get said, so you can decide how best to use them, judging by the dazzle you get of some of these installs its obvious a blind eye must be turned.

Are you sure they are HID and not just projectors with a normal bulb ??? No way to tell the difference from the outside... :)
Same as early Omega's with projectors .. many folks THINK they have HIDs but don't ...

It was the other Megane that had HID's I test drove before buying this one, lol
Lucky my Omega has projectors, so the HID's will be hidden, lol, also the HID's are E-marked.

I realise you are not having a go, quite understand what you are saying.
Like that bit in the link it is not legal to sell or use after market HID lighting kits, for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon
So why are there loads and loads of sellers on E-bay and on other car accessory sites selling these kits as a direct replacement for your standard Halogen bulbs, without even explaining the regulations?

Money in their pocket. Plus I don't think they're required to explain, if they did they'd probably lose customers.

It's only the same as all the rest of the 'for off road use' stuff about ...... led washers, 85/100W headlamp bulbs, Colonel Bogey air horns (for cars after 1972 ;)) etc etc

The HID bulbs that are supplied are H1 fitted type and have the correct backplate with them, I emailed the chap first and he said that they give the same light displacement out put as the Standard H1 bulbs due to they are classed as replacements and not just HID bulbs designed for HID headlights..
If you look they have the correct nipples to fit into the H1 lamp holder.

definitely legal to use.
the DVLA "advice" is truly laughable. Just abut the first statement is "if it isn't specifically permitted in law, then it's illegal", which is ust about exactly opposite to the way UK law works. You know, the sort of thing that North Korea uses. My lawyer almost fell off her chair whan I showed her that !
the e-marking argument ( washers and levelling ) applies ONLY to manufacturers putting a car on the market

What I meant was the same pattern, BUT the HID's give out a better light output in LUMENS, use less power only 35watts and last alot longer.
70% of my driving is at night when going to work early at 4.30am, and coming home at 1am.
80% of the driving is on unlit country roads, to and from work.

I work 5.30am till 3pm (But leave at 4.30am) Morning shift
And then work 3pm till 12am (So drive for that hour home 1am) Late shift.
And the occasional (10pm till 6am) Nights (So drive back and forward in dark both ways)

I did that for 15 years solid and it never bothered me. I was then made redundant so had a few years off, then did a short stint of 6 month-ish of them again and couldn't keep awake on my way home. I now work 0700 to 1900 12 hour shift & don't ever want to do night again. (but never say never ;)) :y

Well the bargain arrived today, WHAT an excellent kit.
No messing with wiring loom..
It was all plug and play.
Will take some more picture tonight when it goes dark.
Very impressed so far that the beam pattern is perfect and the same as Standard lamps. (£15.00+p&p well spent)
Also NO FAULT up on the Head Up Display in the car.
I have taken 3 photos so far.

This was the kit, check the sellers items...
If he not got them on the site then drop him an email..
You need either 6000K or 8000K H1 Kit (For Facelift Miggy with Projectors)
Any higher than 8000K will be BLUE and reduce light output.

Picking up on the levelling - my V-plate Elite has no rotary levelling dial by light switch panel. Does that mean that headlamp levelling ability is not available or is it self-levelling?

Bugger, I was hoping to get a set of either H7 or H7r 8000k for the main beam :-(

I just fitted my after market hid's today .... i bought the kit below cause its got a 3 yr warranty and said was no mods needed to wiring .
Were very easy to fit even for a monkey like me ;D
This seller is nothing to do with me but i can say its simple it fit :y :y
A bit more expensive but looks good to me , i did one side first and the difference between the "nightbreaker" and the hid was amazing . So much brighter and better light output .
Cant wait for proper darkness to come :y
Oh and i forgot to take a pic with one side standard and one hid. :-[

My advice now is to get yourself a set of Blue filter tinted 501 sidelight bulbs to help get rid of the YELLOW colour sidelights..

No they give a less Yellow Orange light than normal..
You can get total LED white 501 lamps

NO your High-beams are H7 so H1 won't fit... Just go out and buy a set of H7 HID 8000k lamps and ballasts now... ;-)
