Post by: mrshifter on 08 November 2010, 09:41:34
hi, i have a 2002 omega and the cars been absolutely reliable, but now it wont start and there are no dash lights. Both my fobs are tatty and only 1 works remotely, and this  one now only opens the car now. I have manually un-locked and locked it but no difference.
Any ideas people?
Thanks.

No lights at all, even when you turn ignition on?

Does the engine crank?

I assume you mean no warning/EML lights. Charge, oil etc etc lights are coming as they should when you first turn the key I?

Have a look at your battery connections, see if any of the smaller cables has come adrift.
If your model has it then also check the box by the battery with the fusible links, make sure they are all intact.

Have a look at your engine fuseable links first and battery connections. Do your lights, heater etc work etc? It could be a faulty ignition switch or immobilser problem if the fuses are ok.

I had a lot of problems with fuse 15 blowing randomly caused endless grief. Eventually traced to heated seat wiring rubbing on seat frame, just bear it in mind.  The fuse blew for a reason...

To see properly you need to take the seats out, the cables hidden behind one of the seat motors, not that obvious even when the seats are out..

Might be easier to put a lower amperage inline fuse in the loom at the seat base below the memory buttons where the connections are. At least that should blow before F15, saves the engine cutting out...

Thats not a problem, it makes it easier, the cable for the heated (you do have heated seats don't you?) rubs on the seat frame. All because when the seat was built they stuck a small piece of plastic as a cable protector on the wrong side of the seat frame...
