Title: The veterns may be intrested...
Post by: Markie on 08 February 2008, 22:18:57
On and off a fair few of us have discussed, going back a few years a company on ebay trading as sterling cars, they then moved on to another name before appearing as a pairofpumkins

look at the feedback - they seem to go from bad to worse....

One question ebay, why? why do you let such people trade  :(

On the other side of the argument, and this is the first I've heard of this lot, have a look at their terms and conditions. Some of them seem quite fair.

ive already looked thanks, there previous account was closed down and trading standards were allegedly involved.

Selling dangerous cars cant be hid behind by term and conditions.

Yes they do make it clear and still 97% positive. I bouht a Mig off ebay, still parked on my drive though no misleading advertising and I left positive feedback, they were clearing a px, problems occured later, as they can do.
Silly really to buy a car without seeing it.
May be an idea to use members to go and check out cars for sale and oof seemt to cover the country quite well. No liability of course, just a thougth. :)

Bit off to not supply any warranty at all... Sold as seen is something I would associate only with a private purchase not a business selling that many cars.

Always viewed their adds with suspicion in all their various names.

Fair comment, no argument from me. I must admit, if I'd seen those terms and conditions I would have run a mile but how many people read the t & c's when they see their 'dream' car??  :(

Agreed, dont get me wrong i have had no dealings so cant comment personally on an individual transaction, however i remember conversations going back to vxon days ( pre oof) about their dealings - they actuallly seem to be getting more rough and ready....

What does safe mode mean out of interest.

Been disconnected or battery has been flat and the security code needs entering.

The last picture shows the head unit isn't pushed back far enough.

I,m guessing it will be ready for the 80k cambelt service.

How much is that these days I got a mv6 done by vauxhall about 2 1/2 years ago and it cost me about £450.

That's what I thought but I can't see it having had it replaced as the MID matches the the head unit ie there's no GID fitted.  :-/

I watched Sterling cars for 12 months when they sold a good number of Omegas and their feedback was excellent. When they 'stopped trading' I e-mailed to ask if 'A pair of pumpkins' was the same outfit. They confirmed but gave no sensible explanation for the change and said they would revert to original name in a fortnight. That never happened of course, and their feedback has subsequently seen an increasing number of negs. I wonder whether the personnel changed for the worse.
They're clearly just another low grade clearing house now. Wouldn't touch their cars with a barge pole.

What's with the palm trees? Do they run them down to the Azores for the photos?

Looks like a motor trader trying to sell stuff that they shouldn't be touching in the hope that Ebay and their Ts and Cs will hide them from trading standards. I wouldn't buy a car from someone with that feedback.

Having said that I'd go to view it if I was closer.
