Ignition on
Switch radio off with the OI key
Press & hold AS key
Switch on radio, keep AS pressed till you hear a beep
The display shows ''CODE'' for approx 3 secs
Then ''Radio code:'' and the number of remaining attempts appear, eg ''---- <10>''
Enter code with number keys
Confirm 'OK'' by pressing the multifunction button (ie main volume)

SAFE with no number means ignition was not turned on first !!

Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Turn Off Stereo
Press & Hold Preset " AS " and
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Enter CODE in the order it is read - eg:
For Example, To Enter Code 1234
Press Preset 1 then 2 then 3 then 4
If the correct code number is now shown
Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps

 ;)

If you radio is not showing anything on the display, then its not actually asking for a code - YET !

Your problem is more serious than just a code - it sounds as if something is faulty somewhere

SAFE on its own with no other numbers means that ignition was not turned on first BEFORE the radio

turn ignition on ..... leave it on & then turn radio off with the IO button as in the instructions above.
then follow above instructions to enter code.

Onstar isn't used in Europe. ;)

If nothing comes on without the ignition, check the powers at the rear of the radio -suspect you may have lost the permenent live then.
