My Sat Nav Disc keeps ejecting and Display says "Please insert CD Label up" and it is like that it used to do it odd times but these cold mornings its doing it all the time i have heard that they can be troublesome. I am hoping its just cold related because if i hold the disc to the heater outlet it then seems to work as anyone had this problem and can they be repaired
Thanks
Robert

Mine does this until the car/radio has warmed up...
Suspect the laser is on its way out...
-
What he said /\
there was a link provided in the ice section for a supplier of new lasers not long ago. Which is a relief as they where previosly unobtainable afaik.
-
Lasertrader is the place to get them. The one I fitted in one of mine has been fine, worth checking with SP32 how his one is going.
-
Using CDRs makes the situation worse (permenently)
-
thanks for the replys
i have only ever used original sat nav discs in the unit, as i said as soon as car is warm its ok but it must be a problem with the lazer,
will one of those cd cleaners be ok to run through. I dont want to make it worse if those cleaners are arnt any good.
on investigation on the net it recommends sending to siemens in germany.
-
I suspect a CD cleaner will do far my harm than good.

Who will return it to you (at a cost) with a note saying that the unit is beyond economic repair and charge you for the priviledge of telling you that.
Siemens no longer holds spares for these units.

That looks good, I suspect they will need setting up afterwards..

Was going to suggest a group buy, but not sure it's worth it given the minimal savings?
-
Thats very good thanks all may order one
But on question for the boffins
is that lazer optical unit for the music side or the navigation side as i would have thought there would be 2 pickups, my unit plays music perfectly its just the navi that keeps spitting the disc out
thanks again

They aren't Siemens / OEM but I have one fitted in one of my units and SP_32 has one in his and they have been fine so far. May be woth speaking to SP_32 to check his has been working ok.
-
so does the replacement part cure the disc from being thrown out and saying "Insert Cd Label side Up"
-
I have never tried a music cd in the sat nav slot i think i ort to give that a try
-
I finally got to take out the radio which in itself was a little difficult however i persevered and it came out i sent it on to a firm recommended by a local radio lad they came back to me and said they have a lot of experience with this unit (I hope So) send it to them if its only the Sat Nav does not need to be divorced their words im sure they meant De-paired.
I did this and got a reply saying that the Lazer had expired again their words and as the lazers cannot be got it would need the full mechanism c/w Pickup cost would be 216.50 + vat and these have to be got from Holland wow says I.
However they have just emailed me saying unit is being dispatched all is now well with it and working i said how can you tell if its not depaired they said we can get round that and it as 6month warranty. so I await in trepidation.
Now down to my query with you learned people does the unit just slide back in as the electric contacts on left Ariel on right is there any tips i.e bias on the right or left to engage all the contacts.
thanks

is that replacement laser component a plug and play item or does it need soldering?
-
im not sure on that but would suspect plug in and play as lazer will be calibrated in mechanism

Just been reading this thread with much interest!! ;D
The single slot in my 2013 seems to be working find, but I'm sure the laser in the changer is on its way! So dare I ask...

Sorry to go off topic but this (like most American idiot spellings) annoys the **** out of me.
It's laSer- an acronym:
Light
Amplification by
Stimulated
Emmission of
Radiation
