hi guys,
an intermittent fault has started occuring on the screen display on my newly aquired. MV6.
The coloured display goes off and leaves just a scrambled grey mess of lines on the screen. :( :( :(
i have found that if you sharply tap the dash in the screen area it clears & comes back on. :o :o :o :o
have just driven back from Eastbourne to Southend with no problems with it :-? :-? :-?
I am guessing that could be a loose connection of a plug in or something.
Any ideas on this problem or do facelift displays play up on a regular basis? :-/ :-/ :-/
regards, Al

If you are talking the colour display then you *may* be lucky that its a loose connection but, in all honesty, its probably the screen going tits up...
Have a search on the site for CID or colour satnav type threads. A new screen is the only viable solution, be that a complete unit from a car being broken or a replacement screen component.
I cannot recall the exact description or part numbers but no doubt someone else will clarify.
Brand new complete screens from VX are, I think, no longer available but when they were, you are talking a 4 figure sum!
If you go searching on the bay of fleas, a replacement screen must be depaired or in factory mode via Tech2 for a direct replacement or be a willing doner for open heart transplant surgery by someone clever. ;)

Yes it is a colour display - says Bose when its not switched on.
It,s not just a change over then if i were to get a used one?
Are they repairable at all ?

Yes, its a changeover job. Quite straightforward, actually.
Just NEEDS depaired by a real Tech2 and not simply hooked from a Veccy in the scrapyard or similar and slotted in. If its taken from the doner car without depairing its useful only as parts. It would then need splitting down to its screen, seperate from the rest of its gubbins, (as would your FUBAR one) so that a transplant can take place.
As said, simple. Or not, dependant on route taken.... ;)

Thanks hotel21, :y :y :y Think I will live with it until we have our upcoming Essex meet, and can then discuss at depth with other oofers as to best way round it.
hopefully there will be someone as knowledgable as you there :y :y :y :y :y

If you manage to get a good used one that has NOT been divorced from the original car, then if you send both of them to us, we can transfer the vehicle data from your faulty one to your new one so that a Tech2 session is not required, and you can then simply plug in your new screen.

LCD panel is Sharp LQ126. Rarer than rocking horse poo. Hence my collection of spares is not for sale.
If whole units change, needs to be depaired, or we can play silly beggers, and use replacement LCD in your unit.

LQ5AW136 will also work.

Indeed, though the 2 136's I've seen didn't appear as sharp (no pun intended!)

:D I'll let you know when I change the panel over in one of mine.
