Excellent! Should be a good scrap. Yuppie icon of the '80's versus Mr. "Envy Politics" himself. Get in the ring! ;D

They're fine, thank you for asking  :y
Liam's out & about some where, even though i feel he shouldn't be.
They heal quicker when they're young  :)
Leanne has had some very early nights just lately, she took some getting over the anesthesia.

Meega's will get hit with the £25 at least mine will, thats why Markjay is considering another car, and just as a point of interest in the first year of the City Hall's existence in the second year the tax paid, which is identified seperately within the annual council tax went up by 27%, have'nt kept track of it since then.

What they don't mention is how much the mayors office earns from TLC charging e.g., fines for box junction's and bus lane fines, and also they impose penalties on London netowrks trains e.g., all the main train service providers when they miss a service or run trains late, and that runs into tens of thousands per week.

What I can't understand is, if it's a congestion charge, why does emissions come into it? Do thirsty cars cause more congestion?

Maybe he should call it a pollution charge?

Or a "got a bob or two? Want to visit my city? Pass the Vaseline!" charge.

Slight tangent I heard today that my local authority is considering a congestion charge the reason being to attempt to reduce the amount of resperation related illnesses in the area, this high rate of disease couldn't be anything to do with the amount of people that smoke  ::)apparently the highest rate in the country. It really pi$$es me off the way that the motorist seems to be getting clobbered from all sides at the moment >:(

Why don't the rail companies tell him to f**k off?

If I ran one I would!

I'd also use the smokiest I could get my hands on, hmm couple of 37s with leaky injectors

Could not agree more.  As I have said before, I hope that all those members who are London based and have the opportunity to vote for the mayoral election do so to get this half wit out.  The man really is a menace.

Going back to the charge affecting Omegas, I read on the TFL propaganda site that it (the charge) would "only" effect cars that have an emission rating after 01 March 2001 or, before this date, those cars with an engine size of 3 litres or more.

It seems to me that all the advantages are to be had with running an older (pre 01 March 2001) car - you are not clobbered on tax banding nor affected too greatly by any of these other silly money grabbing schemes.

Rant over!!

if you read mcn or visit the, politics and law section of thier website...what he has done in trying to bury research on allowing motorcycles in bus lanes (big reduction in accidents) not only explodes the myth that he is seriously interested in road safety, but it is bordering on murderous,it doesnt fit his (real) agenda. the people who prepared the report had it ready for publication a long time ago but not only is it being buried but they have been pressurised to alter it to be less favourable to bikes than it currently is. >:( >:( >:(

...from what i,ve read,a senior person in kens office sent the report back with "suggested amendments"which didnt tie up with the research but fitted the political agenda much better...p.s. my computer has been down so i am catching up with old threads.  :)
