Title: Alloy Wheel refurbishment
Post by: Marie on 21 February 2008, 14:28:08
Has anybody ever used this company i found them today and they have quoted me £285 to finish them in charcoal and £230 in silver. this is for 5 alloys.

i am very tempted as my alloys have had a battering.

have a look and let me know what you think.

(sorry try this:)

Page cannot be found!!

But that seems VERY expensive

I had 5 pre-facelift MV6 alloys refurbed, these are diamond cut and polished, and it only cost me £250 (should have been £58 per wheel but they did me a deal on 5)

There are two companies that charged roughly the same price but as they are in Kent guess they are too far for you to go, but they do a 48hr turn around so if you are ever up that way for a few days could be worth a punt.

There's is a guy in Glasgow who powder coats wheels for £40.00 per wheel, most colours available and he does a good job, it's a little bit far to go for yourself but it let's you know the sort of price to look for :y

I think silver color is better..Will not show the dirt like the black alloys..

And the price is twice here but normal for UK.. ( I've done my originals last summer for silver color again and using them in winter as they are easy for wash) ..

ps: from the net page they say they will give in 1 day...

in painting a very good quality work can never be done in 1 day..

because you must wait for the primer and the paint to be dry between

layers..

The other option is Lepsons also in Kent

Both can be found if you google  :y

And they can do the original pre-facelift MV6 (as Below) and refurb them back to the original two tone.

Better to get a professional to fit tint's, I got mine done for £100.00 but thats a saloon and as for the alloys sometimes it is cheaper to get a new set give ebay a try :y

That seems a bit steep.  I just got one of my elite rims painted for £40 by a company based in Notts.  He did a 110% effort and made it look like new, balanced it for me too.

There was a couple in the town where I work with tinted windows, IIRC they belonged to the co-op and had a lot wood inside. ;D ;D ;D

My Dad's MkII Granada estate has blacked out back windows ala the Co-op, a lot of people have had one of their last journeys in that car!

You could respray them yourself if you have access to spray kit. Google for alloy respray, here's one result http://www.cruisewestcumbria.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=23233
