Fitted a pair of HID,s from my breaker onto my own car last week. Noticed last night that one of them has stopped working.
The sidelight and main beam are ok. I have checked the connections where I spliced the wires and they are fine.
Maybe moving the unit around has fubared the bulb ?
Hope not as istr they are mega expensive.
Happened around the same time as my LPG went down, but I doubt they are connected.

N/S fuse #22..........O/S fuse #31
-
Good point Rob, hadnt thought of that. :-[ ::)
-
Found fuse 31 to be blown. replaced it and it immediately blew again, so a problem needs found and solved. :-/
-
Anyone know of anyissues which would cause shorting/blown fuses ?
-
You've not really got the hang of this electrician lark yet have you? ;D
Have you got any wiring that's rubbing on the bodywork, exposed copper will do it every time.
Might be worth taking that light out again and having a good check of the cable.

I checked where I had spliced into the loom and that was fine. Will have to delve a bit deeper - when I can find the time. Busy as break at the moment. :y

.. and have a few steaks ready to lob on the bonnet if it's a real proper short. ;D

Afraid Albs, I would guess that your wiring is at fault somewhere :-X :-X ::) ::)

I had to up the fuses to 15A as the standard 10A fuses sometimes blew when I switched the headlights on. I think I'm right in saying the Facelifts with HIDs have bigger fuses too???

Had a look at the fuse box (which seems to have colour coded sockets and that one is blue. Put a (blue) 15amp fuse in and it seems fine now. Thanks for that humpy.
Interestingly, I was on my way to work on the bike today and my speedo/rev counter/ water temp guage and indicators went down. Got to work and checked and lo and behold - a blown fuse. Havent had a blown fuse for years and now 3 in one week. ::)

At least I have a brain. :P :D ;D

Did the tinfoil trick work then? ;D ;D
