Title: Radio problem
Post by: Robduplo on 02 August 2011, 18:45:36
Opel Omega B 1997 Caravan with the original DC 637 Radio.
After I have exchanged one of the distribution belt rollers and therefor disconnected the minus lead of the battery my radio is not working anymore.
The radio is a 90DC637/78 with a seperate dash display.
When the radio is switched on the date in the display starts blinking or disappears. When the radio is switched off again then sometimes the date is on steady and sometimes remains blinking The CD changer also cannot be activated.
I already searched some fora about this topic and found messages for the unlock code instructions.
We have the original safetycard with a code: SV009622.
Now is the question how to enter this code when there is nothing to see on the display.
Does the radio have a (past-by) back-up battery or is it a capacitor that covers a short powersupply break? (The exchange of the battery last year did not cause any problems.)

Is the above mentioned code a 4 or a 6 digit code and if it is 6 digit how to enter the zero's?

Any clues?
Thanks for the help.

ok

for a start the radio is a 4 digit code and that sv number you posted is not anything to do with radio, if you havent got the carpass with the correct radio code on it i would get in touch with davednd on this forum, the carpass alone with the code cannot be trusted due to the fact that many omegas have had their radios changed so therefore the carpass code is not the correct code for the radio installed, your best bet as already stated is to pm davednd who will do his best to help you out  :y  it is his business  :y

Thanks for the reply. I went to the local GM dealers and asked how to get the radio asking for the unlock code.
The (silver-hair) technicians were kind but have forgotten the sequence of the buttons to push.
I was adviced to contact davednd but I do not know how to reach him.
BTW I have the original Philips security card that came wirh the car (and the radio). The chassisnr. of the radio is PH637SVD161638, type is 90DC737/78 and serial nr. is SV009722161638.
The code on the security card is part of the serial number.

Regards, Rob

This is the link to his website http://www.dndservices.co.uk

Usually you can read the instructions on how to enter the code for your radio by following the links but it looks like he has shut it down while he takes a holiday :(
