Title: Help Joanne with her electrics please. (non Omega)
Post by: SPS on 27 February 2008, 09:15:17
I have posted this message in ICE and Electrics, can anyone here help?

Firstly I apologise for posting this non Omega thread ( my husband owns an omega and I know he recieves great advise from very knowledgeable people on this forum) and hope that nobody will be offended!

I have a Citroen Synergie 1.9td.

It has been stood for 4 months while have been trying to find an appropriate engine to put in it - the fuel pump had run the cambelt off on the previous one!!
The engine went in fine and is running no problems - I now have left indicators both front and back that are on solid all the time the battery is connected - if you unplug the relay in the alarm/immobiliser box under the steering column it disconnects the indicators  from staying on constantly and  the normal indicator/hazzards still function correctly. However with this relay out the starter motor is disabled!!  Do you think it could just be damp (I didn't have this problem before) or could anyone offer any solutions! Having been without my car for 4 months I am desperate to get it back on the road.

Many thanks for your help

Joanne

Joanne, I attend a car maintenance class every Monday evening. One of the tutors is a Citroen service technician. If you have any other details then let me know and I'll show it to him on Monday if this is any help to you? I could PM you with and answer that evening.

It sounds like a possible faulty relay.

My farther (when he used to work for Renault) always used to say, if you have to buy a french car, get the base model......because they are shite are electrics!

have you by some chance replaced the engine ECU as well?

If you have i wonder if this is conflicting the with alarm unit in any way?
