Post by: Nickbat on 02 March 2008, 21:51:09

That thing was empty, and not just of people.

Probably a large business jet.  Those guys like flying like that after they drop off their passengers.  Used to see Lears and Citations doing that stuff all the time.

You were right it was empty of pax. After a little delving I have discovered that it was an Airbus A319 at an airshow in Germany. Funny how that changes my perception from "Oh my God" to "Wow, that's cool"  ;D ;D ;D

Airliners have a surprising level of capability, especially Boeings.  A 757 is quite sporty, and a 707 famously did a barrel roll at its public unveiling at an air show.  Now that wasn't on the official programme!

How about another airliner which was able to outrun every fighter jet but the Lightning!

How about another airliner which was able to outrun every British fighter jet but the Lightning!
Funny how when people in the UK try to play top trumps they always bring up something from the past.  ::)  Except for CCTV of course!  ;)
