Title: bloody eGay!
Post by: tunnie on 02 March 2008, 18:17:57
Just had the elite on there for a few hours...

Get a e-mail asking for a cash deal, he had 4 reviews, 75% positive.

He has a history of clocking cars  >:(

Take a load of piccies, datestamped, then say £1200 cash, no offers.

Hopefully then he will break off.  If, by chance he accepts, you have a tidy sum.

Told him to get stuffed, i don't want him buying it, re-clocking it to sub 100k, and selling it.

I'd rather it go as is at 184k.

I expect £600/£800 for it. I can't see it going for £1,200, Tax is up this   month, MOT next.

He'll just buy another and clock.  Hence why I'd suggest an outrageous price, and if he takes it, accept it.

I'd also get him to sign a receipt, and that receipt just happens to have mileage on ;)

Let me think about that for a second...

You want to swap your (marginally) newer estate (price premium) elite (price premium) with all the toys for my MV6 saloon (admittedly with virtually every Elite toy)?

Sorry, I need my working heated seat and cabin heating this time of year, and a/c in the summer.....

Hence why my Elite is going... no multi-rams, no heat in the cabin, no heated seat on leather (cold!) no air-con for the comming months!

Add to the fact my 2.2 has cloth seats which are warm in the winter, and cool in the summer 8-)

Also the Elite has become booring to drive!

I beginning to think my £500 offer was too generous....

All minor problems considering the car... and I've offered to come and help you sort them out, if you had a bit of patience :D

Seriously, you're getting like me - I was getting through cars like hot cakes until I found one I REALLY liked....

Don't take any less than what you paid for it... it's EASILY worth that, IMO

As I said, an S reg oil cooler failure Elite just like yours went for £1000 the other day!

But.. if Jaime is offering you £500 cash, AND his MV6, you should probably accept :y

In his dreams!  Despite the MV6's annoying (and as yet unknown) coolant leak, I wouldn't even consider a straight swap.... ;)

Do you want me to come and have a crawl over / under / around your car, to try and locate this pesky leak?

We (M_DTM and I) thought we'd found it (top rad hose), but replacement hasn't resolved, so back to square one  :'(.  Not much that side of engine it could be....

No unless there is a break great hole in the downpipe - you can see evidence of the coolant from that side of block, and sprayed back from there...

Yes we have, but I'm sure he won't mind :D

Either way, the offer is there if you need a hand, Major / Minor :y

Going back on track, I must agree that there are too many conmen out there on ebay :(

As said before, dont lose on it Mark. If you have decided you don't want / prefer the 2.2 - there is an easy scope to at least make your money back...

Apart from the little bits you mentioned, there's nothing else worrying you with it, is there? As said before, if you have any problems I will be happy to help you sort them out :y

can i also remind you that there are bits for it sitting in my shed....   which i've already tried to persuade you to take away ;)

(James can tell you the history of the compressor... it came off one of his)

and the aerial is a full mounting replacement, and whip, +, enough cable to join properly (possibly ALL the cable memory fails me right now)

and the outside temp sensor is knocking around somewhere.

you checked all the connections on the heated seats??   they worked when I was last using it....   in the front at least... no idea about  the rear ones.   I know this coz it was bastard cold...  and the heated seat was a god send!

which is a thought....  are the rear heat pads the same as the front ones??   and can they be swapped over if they are?

that would at least make it more comfortable, and give you less possibility of comeback on the Fleabay addie...

I did kind of half mention it to the wife....    lets just say , i'm not "on a promise" tonight , merely for suggesting it as a concept/...

you still have first refusal max  :)

I've made my mind up, my 2.2 is far more enjoyable to drive for me.
