I dropped off the Facelift last night for it's bumper repair.
Just had a call from Vauxhalls - they say my car is going "on a jig" and they need it for about 2 weeks minimum
It's only got a cracked bumper :'(
I hope this is a precautionary measure...

did you have a record of the mileage it had on it when they took it?

Very approximately.... 114,300.
How come? It's a VX credible dealership ;D

i would be looking for an explanation - SWMBO had similar damage to yours - cracked bumper etc - it was in and back in 3 days with new painted bumper etc

He said we should "talk" on FRIDAY to see what the situation was then...
I don't really mind, cos I will have a hire car at their expense... but I'm interested in why they need it for 2 weeks

i backed into somone in a car park in my 2.2, hairline split in the bumper like yours.
My 2.2 has never felt better! :D
Ring them back and ask why it needs to go on one!

Sounds like they may have found something which makes them think it's worthwhile jigging it to be sure. Either that or they're trying to milk the insurance company. Either way, as long as you're not out of pocket, I would let them crack on.

I would agree with Kevin, also it will take that time because they'll probably have to send it out to someone who has those facilities.

having been in body repairs for 29 yrs if its going on a jig its had quite a "tap" !!! :-[ me thinks someone is conning the insurance company? to be honest the omega is a very strong car and has a good reputation in the "trade" for being able to take a good pi*ser !!!

One of Mrs TheBoy's old Rovers had a shunt up the chuff (ooohhh-err missus). That ended up having to go on a jig (actually 3 times, as the stupid repair company - an agent of my favourite german car manufacturer - couldn't get it right. Idiots.), but was never the same again. Fortunately it was a lease car, so we didn't have to pay for the tyres being chewed up quickly, and was soon rid of the car (only to be replaced with a crappy Focus)

Does sound like the dealer is trying to milk this.......
But Insurance assessor has to approve such a move......as iirc checking the alignment of the chassis costs circa £700.....and normally insurance assesors will only approve if theres been 'major' wheel damage.....ie a wheel is pointing in the wrong direction.
