Just realised I can now ask for the loan of a locking kit when the time comes for the 2.6l.

Thanks James.You're a gent.
It's actually only done 13k according to a receipt I got when buying, but I think I'm going to have to do valve stem seals before long and I'll do cambelt etc at the same time, as a belt, (no pun intended), and braces precaution.
Thanks for all your comments, guys and gals. :y :y

Something you're not telling us Bill?! :o

It's all a rumour. I'm a virgin.

Are you going to remove the heads yourself?
-
Yes I am, says he with tongue firmly in cheek. I did one on a 2.0l Carlton a long time ago and marvelled that everything worked when I got it back together, but the 2.6l is a more extensive operation I know.
The problem is actual timing of the work. I can't be without a car for my business, so I'm going to do a few things on the 2.0l to ensure an MOT pass and use that whilst I do the work.
As a matter of interest, how long would you suggest a mere mortal like me would need to do the HG's, stem seals, guides if found necessary, and lapping in valves in addition to cam kit, aux belt etc. (Please don't say the 24 hours it would take you.) ;D ;D
I would value your opinion, James.
Cheers,
Bill.
