Title: should of bought a diesel
Post by: kris9128 on 06 March 2008, 18:43:13
had my 2.5 just over a month now. i really do love it, the comfort, the luxury, got a good bit of poke if u bury the right foot  ::) ::). the only draw back i can find is the fuel consumption. since 30th of jan it has consumed just over 145 GALLONS of fuel. my old man keeps laughing at me and just loves reminding me how economical his 2.0 tdi honda crv is.  :-/ :-/

what exactly involved, cost wise. any loss of power  :-/

apparently loss of power is either very minimal or maybe none at all, i'll let you know when i get time to throw mine somewhere, mines a 3.0

the MPG drops slightly, but because of how cheap the fuel is, you get pretty much twice the mileage for your money

i have an 80L tank in mine, will fill it and set my trip meter and see what comes of it :y

i knew nothing about LPG systems, or what's considered a good price to have one professionally converted, but including being given a courtesy car i have a multipoint SGI fitted for £1250, call it £1276 if you include the petrol i used in the courtesy car!!

they gave me a 3.5litre Mitsubishi Pajero (shogun) that doesnt run on LPG!! havent used it much :D

i try to drive very conservativly round town, average 25 mph, 0-25 mph in around 7 secs, i am getting around 28-9 mpg, I can tell when my wifes driving as the car burps as it goes. she is heavier on the gas than me.

I averaged 25 MPG in my MV6, running on propane that is cost-wise equivalent to ~60 MPG on diesel. Who needs the noise and narrow power band of a diseasel? ;)

Saying that, I'm struggling to get the average much above 15 MPG in the 840. Granted, it doesn't see much motorway, and I can't resist caning it to hear the V8 sing, but the economy really is shocking.

I'll be getting the bike back on the road in the next few weeks, and I can't wait -- 30 MPG caning it, and up to 45 MPG on a run. It's the holy grail of being economical *and* fast as break at the same time (as long as it doesn't rain) ;)

Over the last 4000 miles, my tractor has averaged 37.3mpg, mostly locked in 3rd gear on my shitty commute in to work.

On a 70mph run up motorway, speedo odometer (reset every time I fill) adding to MID range was way over 800 miles....
