Nipped down to deepest Wiltshire today, to the resident GM autobox expert, Sassanach.
In no time, the box was off the car, taken apart, and a 'new-ish' thrust washer popped in. Box popped back on, and cats refitted (V6, cats need to come off to drop the gearbox).
Lots learned, and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day - excluding the dimwits driving like Miss Daisy ;D
Thanks Sassanach :y

And I can't tell the difference that it's made. I guess that's a really good sign :y
I was able to push it harder on the way home, on the rare occasions that traffic allowed, and can report there were no surprises :y
