Title: Parts query
Post by: MaxV6 on 27 September 2011, 22:21:04
Are all Miggy wishbones the same??   eg, no difference between pre and post facelift???

(found some allegedly original Vx ones for bugger all money.....  just want to be sure they'll fit before i cough up for them)

and am i correct in assuming that it makes most sense simply to get new drop links at the same time??

thanks guys... does the same apply to rear bushes?

(ditto , found supply of original Vx parts at low prices....    so far the order is 2 wishbones, 2 drop links, a bunch of filters for service, rear bushes, and anti roll bar bushes and , basically everything i can see for the suspension, minus the shocks and springs, and it's still only £120 )

next question...

since it's a 3.2 MV6 estate,  and , as i understand it  lower than a normal miggy , what do i do about shocks and springs????   nowhere i've found, lists the mv6 estate as a separate item...

all i've found so far is 40mm lowered springs,  but no sign of shortened shocks...

Nah... they're boud to be rubbish.  And you wouldn't like them anyway.  I'll take them off your hands for a tenner, though.   ;D ;D ;D

those prices include VAT.....   courier delivery on the lot was only £11.99

seems reasonable....  (counts fingers on hand to be sure i still have them)

now i need to find bushes for the rear.....   the site wasn't clear (and i don't know enough) about the rear axle components they have....  wehther they would fit the estate, or if the estate is different from the saloon  (i suspect it is but don;t know for sure)
so i held off ordering them....

found a set of bilstein fronts for a good price elsewhere....     but not confident about them being the right ones.....  this thing about the MV6 being different from elite and the lower models is a bit awkward when it comes to the unqualified buying parts....    but i'm on a limited budget, and yet determined to do right by the old gal...

gits.....

they clearly state that they are new vauxhall parts in the description.

as i understand it that's bloody well illegal.   (since the new legislation covering advertising standards for web was introduced)

HAARUMMPH

i guess i'll have to wait for the stuff to arrive to be sure......   i've bought a few bits and bobs off them cheap before, and they've arrived in originla Vx packaging  and stuff...
