Title: Why have a Dog in the first place?
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 28 September 2011, 18:41:45
A Good friend of mine has his own Garage. So I called there for a brew yesterday about 12 o'clock.

He tells me when he came to open up he saw a puppy tied up to the railings that surround his sales pitch. So unties him and takes him into the office with his own dog.

I gt a phone call this morning asking me if I am interested in the Puppy.... "bring him over lets see what Zeus (Our Roxer) is like with him... So he arrived this afternoon and they have not stopped playing yet  ;D  ;D  Zeus is knackered me thinks  ;D

Anyway Gaz my mate tells me a bloke came around his garage earlier looking around then asked about the dog.... "Did you leave him there? Why?" "Yes, I have seen you have a dog and thought you would look after him as I have not got enough to feed myself let alone a dog.. he is a 14 week old Patterdale, but I have not taken him for his jabs"

Anyway a few choice words were said and that was it.....

Don't Breeders give the puppies their first jabs? Zeus had had his when we collected him.... I assume we better get him booked in at the Vets asap..

What a playful little fellow he is too, he even sat for some cheese  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Bloke up the street has just got a Staffie pup... Seems his idea of taking it for a walk is letting it out into the street now and again for a couple of minutes...  ::)  :(

What breed is Zeus Daz?

Tell you what Andy his temperment is fantastic, never snaps at any other dogs when we are out, he loves swimming and we cant catch him either just get scratched....He is rather nuts as in bouncing about but they reckon thats a Boxer trate...

These pair have been playing for hour after hour, we have been in fits of laughter. It looks like they have known each other forever...

Sorry, you did mention he's a Roxer earlier, I'd never heard of a Roxer before so didn't connect  ::)  Some friends of mine had a Labrador/Rottweiler cross call Axle and he was a cool dog.  Looked like a big beefy black and tan Lab, and definatly had the temperment of a Lab!  :y

Mrs & Kids were looking at Boxadors ;D which are Boxer/Ladrador they looked nice but we went over to Nottingham to have a look at Zeus' litter and you can imagine what the Girls were like  :D and so we had Zeus the only dog in the litter. I will find a couple of pictures of when we collected him, he seem so tiny with huge paws  ;D

I know what you mean - we have three springers, all rescues.

Skip was previously owned by a disabled lady who couldn't look after him anymore.

Mac was a ward of court

Duke was found wandering the streets of Durham with a cut leg. When we went enquired of the registered owner (on his chip) wh "had never had a dog"

it makes you wonder

patterdales are totaly nuts lol my sister has one jumps back and forth over a stair gate just for laughs!

iirc the breeders give 1st jabs, but then thy have to have 2 more before they can go out or mix with other dogs, aslong as your zeus is uptodate hes ok in the garden. then every year for booster.
looks like hes found a good home :y
cant understand why dogs get tied up, up the fields here someone found 2 dogs tied with no food or water and a horse, i think only the horse survived.  >:(
you can just take them to a home or rspca? or a freead for good home.

My Mum & Dad have always had dogs. But when we had the girls I didn't want a dog, simply because if one ever marked one of the children I don't think I could have ever forgiven myself. And so a couple of years ago the girls were 10 & 13, they constantly kept going on about having a dog.... Well we had a Staffie Cross which was a lovely looking thing, but at 7 months old had had 4 different owners apparently...A month or so in our youngest made a childlike screech and the bloody dog jumped up, luckily sitting next to her I got my hand up to the dogs chest before he reached our daughter..... from that day was doubtful about this dog.. everyone else thought he was just playing  :o
Cut along story short after a few attempts to have a run in with me which was my fault apparently... I was doing the dishes when Mrs & eldest were singing on the Kareoke when youngest gave out the most heart wrenching scream I have ever heard, the bloody dog had jumped up and bit her face right by her ear..... That was the last straw. I took the dog to the dogs home, not something I would like to do again as it was upsetting to say the least, but not coming close to the upset we felt for our daughter....
The bite mark went after a few weeks then after a while the girls were on about having another dog.... If you are sure you would like another dog I said to the youngest, I want you to help to pick one but we need to have a puppy, but most important I want you to be sure you really want one........
As soon as they saw Zeus's litter it was like Christmas morning ;D
