I fear I may be going a little on the Gay side :-[ :-[ Last few curries I've had I've found my order hotter than I remember it being in the past ::) ::)

Mind you, they have been ordered at a certain curry house that seems to empty every time I visit :-X ::)

I'm desperately trying to remember what I tried at a curry night in June because it was really flavoursome and nicely hot :y :y

Must admit, I'm seriously considering that very dish for my next curry as it's slightly cooler than the last couple of Ceylon's I've had

i never quite got the point of total heat , i like it spicy, sure,  but i like it TASTY more....  ... a balance of  both is ideal..

my favourite curry place is called known as the clock tower, in Colwyn Bay, ... they do a chicken or lamb curry , made with copious amounts of hot lime pickle....  can;t remember what it's called, but it's lovely....

packs a punch,  all the way through.....

if anyone fancies their luck on making a hot chilli dish, i have a bottle of something called 100% pain.

it's truly mental,

yeah that about my level, although it depends on the curry house, my local Jalfrezi is sometimes perfect for me, other times way too hot, depends on the chief that night maybe? Tiffins spicy scale is a little high for me, so tend to play safe with a Bhuna or Kharai.

First visit to a curry house, Bhuna. If it's hotter than normal I can still eat, then go from there.

Yeah... But Tiffins don't actually do the Ceylon and it seems to come out hotter than normal :-\ :-\ Or I'm just becoming a little feminine :-[ ::) :D

Yeah, not playing that bloody game, I'd rather enjoy my food tbh.

Although having said that you can keep the curry itself, if theres popadoms and bottomless chutney tray I'm happy :)

...then I can be bottomless in the morning. ;D

;D Oh yeah, I could skip the meal and just eat the poppadoms and chutney all night!

Although I am partial to a good curry - had one not long ago in a lovely place somewhere between Ayelsbury and the M40. Sadly I couldn't find the place again if you paid me, it was random chance that the sat nav picked a pub run by people who make a mean curry ;D

I really enjoy my spicy food and all my home cooking of Chicken Vindaloo, Chili Con Carni and accompany chilli sauces have to be at the max  :) :) or just eating picked chilies for enjoyment  and an Indian night out has to be a Vinaloo for me, I find the hot spices enhance the subtle flavours of the dish, but I appreciate it is each to his own and when I'm cooking for other people and producing curry dishes they are mild enough for them to enjoy, as I cook for my friends enjoyment.  ;)

I fortunate as spicy food does not make me uncomfortable and it makes my digestive system much more comfortable after a good hot curry and I've never suffered from a ring burner problem.  :y :y :y

The main spiciness in a Vindaloo is not actually chili powder but mustard!!! The "Vind" part of a vindaloo is about marinating the meat in vinegar.

I enjoy Indian food so if anybody is interested in some recipes then let me know. Do other OOFers make their own poppadoms as they are so easy to produce and very moreish.  :) :y

I have suggested before, we ought to have an OOF favorite recipes section, what do other OOFers think? I have not tried it yet, but I have a glut of Marrows and Courgettes and I'm going to try the soup recipe that has been posted.  :)

I can confirm, Gayboy is the king of the poppadoms, or more accurately, the chutney dishes.

I too enjoy the poppadoms and chutneys more, esp if out with friends, as its more 'snack-y' and therefore tends, imho, to be more socialable.  Being a greedy git, once the main course arrives, no time for talking ;D

I know you've been to the one at the bottom of the Market Square - Chilli and Pepper (was probably Jaypur II then?), if you prefer that, we can always go in there next time?

Like most things, it's an acquired taste. If you regularly eat hot food, then that's where your tastes will gravitate. Get "out of practice" and you'll say that you can't see the point and it's all heat with no flavour. ;)

I'm with Entwood these days. Madras / Jalfrezi is about the right level. Used to go hotter when I was in better practice. ;D

The problem I find with the milder dishes is that they are too sweet, IMHO.  :(

Thanks to the power of Google Maps, I found the place.. I was actually up in Westcott, but came back down to the M40 via Long Crendon; the place in question is called The Fox Inn on the A418 in Tiddington. http://g.co/maps/qr9dh

Highly recommended.. well, I thought it was good, at least ;D Some nice roads up there, too..

I know it well. Near the speed camera, just down the road from the Pikey centre (Central Caravans, not the official Pikey Park about a mile further towards Oxford).

Not been in there since it was an old fashioned boozer though  :-[

Official Pikey Park - these parasites want to claim to being 'travellers' in order to bypass laws and taxes, so how come they build permenent residences, and stay there for life?  >:(

Similar could be said about the Amber Nectar.

Like many, at one stage in my life, I could go out and neck waaaay to much in an evening, roll in about 4 or 5 in the morning, and be up for work at 8, with not too much in the way of bad effects, albeit usually abandonning the van up the kerb, rather than parallel parking.

Now, 4 pints, and I'm:
a) full
b) constantly going to the bog
c) know that much more will lead to longer recovery
d) talk bollax

Actually, scrub d), thats normal

I didn't notice the speed camera.. fortunately it's more than 14 days ago and no NIP, so I can't have gone flying past it.. ;D (It was dark and I was following my big gay gonk stuck to the windscreen..)

I didn't notice the caravan place either, or I'd have stopped to set light to them all  ;D

But the pub is well worth a visit - it's half pub and half restaurant now and the food was very nice indeed. Got a free drink afterward, too .. probably in the hopes we'd send people their way (little did they know neither of us live anywhere near there ;D)

Actually, that would be in Oxfordshire, so the camera would have been off :y

I assume Central Caravans are still there, not been down that way for a couple of years - occasionally pop in if we need camping stuff.

Four years..

Three years for the purposes of 'totting up', four years it stays on your license, and most insurance companies ask about any convictions in the last five years.

Unless it was a conviction for drink, drugs or causing death, in which case it's eleven years.
