Title: Car won't start.
Post by: Shackeng on 08 October 2011, 10:26:06
Plaintive call from Mrs S." I've just come out of the gym and my car won't start"
Arrive at car, '06 Jazz, she's now locked herself in.
" I can't get out!" she mouths through the screen.
"Pull the button up" I mouth back.
"Oh!!!!!!!!!!".
Start again,
"Did you by any chance have your lights on driving in today?"
"I might have done".

You've guessed the rest. Should they be let out in charge of a motor vehicle?

Reminds me of a few years back when I was with my Ex.

Me: Saturday morning, Walking into Vauxhalls Parts holding a Cambelt and Water Pump off my SRi, took the bits in with me so I knew I was getting the correct bits.

Mobile Rings, Her: Where are you, you've taken my Car, what time you back, need to go shopping, just tried to use your Car but it wont start!

Me: FFS!

No, battery connected, engine was turning over quiet nicely apparently, be it, a bit faster than normal I was later informed.

Bugger! And the lesson learned there is........... take all keys with you if you leave the car or disconnet the battery  :y :y

Correct!!, was my fault really, as we both had each others keys on our rings, Im sure I mumbled something to her about the Car before I left but obviously in one ear and out the other.

Banged the valves straight on my mates lathe as well as doing de choke and grind, the SRi actually run a lot better after that, so she probably did me a favor in the end.

I must admit I can't be arsed to disconnect for many jobs.  Do you reckon we should change the OOF maintenance guides? "Disconnect the battery to ensure your partner can't attempt to start the car."

I guess Honda expect a high degree of skill and intelligence from Jazz drivers if they don't fit a warning beeper.  Unlike Omegas  ;)

At least she didn't call 999 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbX_I_lrmIc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbX_I_lrmIc)

She did at least have the grace to appologise to the 911 operator when she realised she could unlock & open the door. There are loads of cars around now that don't have the option of lifting a button on the door to unlock eg new Astras, Skoda Yeti  :y
