Hi,does anyone know the best place to get a new key programmed in the Bristol area and approx cost?,i have the pass key card. :D

Its 50/50 with Tech2 would be Kevin Wood, in Alton Hampshire or TheBoy in Brackley, Northants. Both fair haul, might be worth ringing around a few local dealers :y

On the wife's Astra you put the key in the ignition, turn it to the first position, and press and hold the 'unlock' button. After a few seconds all the door locks cycle locked/unlocked and, hey presto, key fob re-programmed and fifty quid stays safely in pocket!
Worth a try.

No it's not. What you've described is there-synchronising of an already programmed key. A new or new-to-you fob needs TechII to reprogramme it to your car.

Andy is correct, that only syncs an already programmed key, struggling to find someone to programme it for me,i am very reluctant to use main stealer, goes against the grain im affraid!

As daft as it sounds I had a key cut and a new chip programmed at my local Timpsons shoe repair shop for £70 and the guy even came out to my car to make sure it started :y

I think I'm right in saying you'll need the car pass if having it done at a dealers or using a members Tech 11 :y.

Sometimes they clone transponder chips, thus not needing carpass or Tech2. But £70 :o, OUCH!!
Remote fobs cannot be cloned, due to rolling code.
