The brown plastic/bakalite ? washers/seals on the end of the injectors. Are they particularily important ? I have 5 of 6 missing.
Currently have a set of 3.2 injectors on the car (2.5) and the car spends most of its life running on LPG anyway.Would prefer to swap back to the original injectors if the missing bits arent going cause a problem. :-\ Are they replaceable ? Tia.

You might find the O rings get sucked off the end of the injectors and into the intake without them. :-\
-
Good point Kevin.Do you know if they are replaceable/available ? :-\
-
I'm sure they are but I wouldn't know where to look, TBH. :-\
-
Albs - I'd normally suggest trying one of the helpful breakers on this site ;D ;D ;D
Sure Twigs/Pinky/EP etc etc can sort you one if you're not expecting one in soon yourself :y
-
I have a perfectly good set on an engine which sits on my drive, but they are on a very sweet running low mileage engine.Dont want to start pulling bits off it. ;)
-
Will ask Twigs though.Hadnt thought to ask him to be honest, but Im sure he will help if he can.Hes a fine young gentleman, but dont tell him I said so. ;) ;D

I've got 2 sets of 2.6 injectors here so, assuming they are the same, I'm sure we can sort something out next week. :y
I hope I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning this in the General Help section! :-\ :P :-X
-
No idea if they are the same James.Hopefully someone else will know. :y

IIRC, 2.6/3.2 have different injectors and a higher fuel pressure than 2.5/3.0. The question is: does this matter? If they flow at roughly the same rate and have the same electrical characteristics probably not. Does anyone have the two part numbers so I can compare specs? (It's the Bosch number - 0280 xxx xxx)

Got 3.2 injectors complete with fpr etc on there at the moment.Car seems to take a bit longer to start from cold than I would expect, and I seem to use more petrol than I woud like.May not be connected though, planning on changing the plugs at the next service in a few weeks time,so that could improve the percieved problem. :-\
No idea on P/N btw,and if there is one on an injector, probablt too small for me to read. ;D

.....or perhaps not. 2.5 injectors - blue - 0 280 155 712. Below that it has A 961.
On the FPR - 3.0Bar. 0 280 160 560.

Part No. | Flow Lb/h | Flow cc/min | PSI | BAR |
0-280-155-712 | 19.4 | 203.9 | 43.5 | 3 |

Dont mean sh1t to me Kevin. :-[ ;D

It doesn't to me either, until we have the part number of the other injectors. ;)
Basically, it's flowing 203.9 cc/min at 3 BAR fuel pressure.
The 2.6/3.2 injectors work at 3.8 BAR IIRC, so the question is what is their flow rate at 3.8 BAR?
-
According to one of steve's ebay listings :y
3.2/2.6 injectors are 0-280-156-045
Part No. | Flow Lb/h | Flow cc/min | PSI | BAR |
0-280-155-712 | 19.4 | 203.9 | 43.5 | 3 |
0-280-156-045 | 18.25 | 191.8 | 43.5 | 3 |
So, lower flow rate @ 3 BAR but IIRC the FPR is 3.8 BAR on a 2.6/3.2 whereas the injectors are specified at 3.0 BAR. Should flow about 215cc/min at 3.8 bar. So, a bit more fuel flow but I'd expect the ECU to "learn" around that small a difference.

Sounds like I might as well just leave them on there then. :-\
-
Certainly no desperate rush to change them, IMHO.
-
Next spring sounds like a suitable time. :y :)
-
if we have a spring lol
-
True. ;) ;D
