This 'term of endearment' is getting popular; I'm hearing it more and more.
Okay buddy. No problem bud.
BUDDY, BUDDY, BUDDY! >:(
It's grinding me down, I loath it! Am I the only one who can't stand it?
I'll wait to read the predictable replies.... "me too buddy", etc... ;D

Right on 'marra ;D

the phrases that p*** me off are:-
Basically at the end of the day
To be honest
To be fair
Y'know like / like y'know
I'm lovin' it
Y'know what I mean

It's taken a long time for someone to spot that one. Change over time, the black one has gone. :) :)

Being a Southerner living up North now (cheap houses) I've got used to being called Bud, Fella, Duck. I've even started saying Tara as goodbye. The usual greeting has gone from "Alright mate" when i was down South to "Now then mate" Been up here 7 yrs now & despite speaking in a southern accent i'm now saying "stopping here" instead of "staying here", "will it not fit?" instead of "won't it fit?"
Curious how such a small part of the globe has so many regional accents & related phrases that go with them. ::)
-
Bladdy savernors. Linconshire is in the South, who are you kidding. ;D ;D ;D
-
My only reservation about these ways of addressing people is when they are used even when someone's name is known. It can then sound arrogant or patronising, 'in my honest opinion' . :-[ :-[
But I'm sure people are only wanting to be friendly, and it's only a matter of local habit, surely.
Alright, Wack?

Think yourself lucky everyone calls each othere 'Mush' around here ! :o
