Has anyone seen the new look mot tickets that will start to circulate from Monday 16th,they are printed at the test station onto blank A4 paper and look totally different

Cost cutting, I guess - saves having to have all that bespoke stationery printed.. and since everything is held on a computerised database now, there's no reason to have any anti forgery technology in the paper - since the police couldn't care less if you have a paper cert, just that it's on the database (ok, slight exaggeration, I know)..

Correct the guy from my local MOT station was talking about this a few weeks ago

There is going to be a few changes like if your car has a towbar the lighting socket must work also if your burst a rubber boot then it's a fail even if the ball joint is ok >:(

I don't see an issue with either of those. If you have a towbar then you may tow something so need to check the lighting circuits. If you split the gaiter of a ball joint then water and crap could enter and cause it to fail before the next MOT ;)

There are going to be a lot of vehicles that fall foul of the balljoint rubbers being split, hopefully after market suppliers will start selling gaiter kits so that an otherwise sound joint can be saved especially when a lot of lower joints need the complete arm changing.

I have no problem with the MOT getting stricter, as long as they don't start reducing emissions limits on older cars to force them off the road..
I think I proved last week (see here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=94420.0)) that the current MOT standards are a little woeful ..
