They are only about £100 new...due to their being a fair bit of work involved in changing them over I would recommend getting a new one...the second hand one could easily fail a few thousand miles later or even less and any cost saving getting a second hand one would be lost by doing the job again...

I guess that if you are doing the work yourself it may be worth a punt though...

Would agree with generally fitting new but at this stage not sure if head gasket has gone as well.
If hgf then car will be scrapped so no point in buying anything new just jet.

I've got a 2.6 here with a good oil cooler. Not sure if it's the same as the one on a 2.5 though.  :-\
