I went to my local garage to ask if they could do a diagnosis, the person who does it wasn’t there and told me to come back Monday.
He asked me if I had a 9 pin plug, I didn’t have a clue, :D is it the tech2 that does the diagnosis that I have read so much about?
Also can someone tell me where it is situated?

Your car will have a standard(ish) OBDII socket located under the steering wheel in the fuse/relay box location.
Older Vauxhalls have an ALDL link.
-
The plug is in the panel underneath the steering wheel and is shaped like this:
(Not a picture of an Omega, obviously, but the socket looks a lot like that)
It has 16 pins.
Tech2 is the genuine Vauxhall diagnostic computer, highly unlikely any garage outside of Vauxhall or one of the few folks on here will have one, however, they'll probably just have a generic OBD2 diagnostic computer or possibly an "My Naff Code Reader" (maybe even genuine if it's a proper garage).

clearly the bloke doesn't have a clue, would you really wanting p,ugging j

Thanks for the help & suggestions.
I thought a diagnosis would tell me why my airbag light is on all the time and the emissions light on 80% of the time.
I’ve only had the car about a month and the lights were on when I brought it. I put it through the M.O.T a couple of days after I got it.
It failed on emissions and cost me £90 quid to have some welding done on the exhaust, but the light is still on. :(
I’m hoping diagnosis will tell me why the lights are on.

Does a nearby member have the correct equipment.
If that garage doesn't even know what plug it has, I doubt they would understand the data coming back, unless they take the fault codes on face value (bad move) and willy nilly change parts.

I took your advise, didn't bother going back to the garage. When I get chance I will book it in at a stealer as you call them. :(

Where are you in London? If you're on the West side then there's a member with a Tech2 who knows how to use it not a million miles from you.

I'm in SW, near Croydon

Try and find a member nearby with right tools. Dealers aren't much use for Omegas either in ost cases :'(
-
A trip to Kevin Wood wouldbe the best option imo. :y
-
Yep, what Albs said - KW isn't all that far from you, really (a jaunt down the M3).
Or if a more generic reader works on the 2ltr, I'm a bit further up the M3 toward London (but someone else will have to confirm that, as I don't know - never having tried :))
-
Thanks all.
Unfortunately it’ll a quite some time before I will have the time to get anywhere near the M3, time at the moment is one thing I’m short of.
It looks like I’ll have to take my chances with the stealers. :(
