top bloke
always road it like he had stolen it
a big smile and big hair
didnt let the big names bully him  and always gave it 110% when he might have done better by only giving 100%
was very talented and a great rider
and i will miss him

did anyone else notice that when he came across the track he was hanging off the bike and not moving
and how the @@@@ did his helmet come off?

That was horrific not a nice thing to see. He appeared to be trapped under his bike just before coming into the path of the two following riders who had nowhere to go.

Another sad day for motor sport, RIP Marco

Just woke up after my post night shift sleep hoping to see the race and heard about this.Very shocked indeed tbh.Dont know what to say.
So sorry for him,his family and also for Rossi and Edwards, who Im sure will be devastated even though apparently there was nothing they could have done to avoid it. :'(

"The race was cancelled amid confusion in the grandstand, with fans throwing bottles to show their initial displeasure."  :-[

I am ashamed to say that I had to Google for the name of Shoya Tomizawa who died at the beginning of the season in Moto2 in similar circumstances.

It looks (to me) like Edwards/Rossi essentially rode over his neck - he wasn't moving once he stopped sliding, and I'd suspect the initial crash snapped his neck when the helmet came off  :-\

RIP. Commiserations to his family and friends and my thoughts are also with Rossi and Edwards. Especially Rossi as Simoncelli was a close friend.  :'(

A great talent and character who will be sorely missed.  :(

Such a bad couple of weeks for all motorsport will turn out to be a great time for those tree huggers that want it all shut down on environmental and safety grounds.

Another sad loss, and a reminder that motorsport is dangerous.
