Took my son and his girl to London last weekend to see 'Rock of Ages'. As usual was fairly late, had 5 minutes before the performance started. I was approaching Shaftesbury Avenue, saw the blue sign with the white arrow indicating direction of flow, but just beyond that sign was a left turn junction with no sign prohibiting left turn, so I turned left in the correct direction of flow, parked up and dropped them off. I now have a Penalty Charge Notice claiming that, 'I proceeded in the wrong direction' ???
I'm fully aware of the blue circle and white arrow indicating direction of flow, but it's a new one on me that you 'cannot' turn into a junction leading off that road... >:(

Had something similar in the Trafalgar Sq area a while back. With my "offence" they sent a couple of still shots from a street camera with the "offence" detailed under it. Did you get any pics?

Yes they included 4 stills, also looked on Camdens site to see the video. One thing is clear, as I said there is no 'no left turn' sign, also as you turn left you are travelling in the direction of the traffic flow.. They want £130..... For making a wrong turn, and not against traffic flow, I asked which planet they are on..... >:(

You can always contest it but I doubt you'll get anywhere >:(

It's a prime example of how local government is filling its coffers from the pockets of motorists.
When any authority descends to the level where the regulations it formulates and enforces makes it almost impossible to anyone move about in any reasonable way without breaching them, then all is up.
In this case – the way I read it anyway, but I can be thick at times – you seem to have entered the road area covered by the traffic flow sign (which at that point was presumably against you) to turn left thereby falling victim to their money making scheme.
In short it's a bastid way of making money from ordinary people through these convoluted regulations - enforced by the pimps of the whoremongers that we have masquerading as national government.
