Just letting all CID (colour information display) owners know it now seems that it is a possibility to get these repaired when they get the usual malfunction of where the screen breaks up into a grey/white/black mess.
Just after getting the present omega back in February ,the screen started to malfunction as discribed above. A sharp tap on the dash seemed to cure it for a while.
However the malfunctions became more frequent and firmer bashes on the dash were required to correct it . Until finally it gave up & would only flicker to life once in a while.
Jamie (TB) correctly forecast that any home devised repair would only be very short lived & that the problem with these screens seemed to be the connection of the ribbon cable becoming brittle to the circuit board deep inside .
A repair to this can only be acheived by high tech microscopic soldering under microprocessor assembly standards owing to the minature tolerances involved.
Oof member Albs discussed with me that he may have access to this type of laboratory standard work & would I consider letting his associate attempt to repair my screen .
New screens are very expensive I understand as well as having to be programmed to the car with a Tech2, so I went for this repair.
If the screen is removed from the car & replaced back in the same car no Tech 2 is required. Just follow the TB's Oof guide for removing & replaceing the CID screen .
After removing the LCD screen from the display unit. I replaced the unit (without the screen ) & put the rear multiconnectors back in & used car as normal while the repair was carried out.
I can only recommend this repair to other Oofers as a way of getting your CID back to its best . Time will tell but after 4 weeks there has not been a flicker of a malfunction & would like to thank Albs & his associate for the work they carried out.
If you need a CID repaired - PM Albs . . I'm sure he can sort it :y :y :y :y Price ? . . £80 but well worth it IMO ;) ;) ;)

Last LCD I bought was under £100, with warranty ;)
Admittedly, not always easy to find.

About £120 was cheapest I could find . . but was from Hong Kong :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
As you say TB . . bit hard to come across.
I'm very happy with what Albs done for me . . added bonus is by having your original repaired . no Tech 2 set up required.
I'm sure that some oofers will be sceptical about these screens being repaired . . . but it's working brilliantly so far ;) ;) ;) ;)
