Just had leaflet through about the forthcoming Bi Election here, so I did a bit of 'googling' as to why the (Local) election.
It turns out the Tory councillor has resigned and been arrested for alleged child images. Further googling shows that another Tory has just been kicked out for his refererals to gay marriages, allegedly stating that 'You will soon be able to marry an animal' ;D
Further inspection shows me that one of the candidates up for election is someone I know who has been done for drink driving, and been involved in 'monetary irregularities' involving my organistion a few years back and again this year. After I sent a letter to him stating the 'legality of his actions, especially as him being ' in a responsible position within the community', he appeared that night on my doorstep with the cash.
I can't go into further details on here......it just makes me sick to think these people are Councillors and make all the decisions on how our society runs, financial and otherwise. >:(
If I had solid written evidence to hand I would protest :(

It is grim, without doubt Terb.
Of course Westminster, being the paragon of virtuous conduct in the arena of public representation that it undoubtedly is, led by shining example.
I would suggest that this country is oppsed.

sadly my experience of council meetings is that too many purely look after their own (financial) interests and might make a show of wanting to listen to the views of the "public" but that's all it is. Went to one and the public had to put their hands up to ask questions like we were at school-which is fine -but they seemed very selective about who they took questions from and the vast amount of people there who wanted to ask something were never given the opportunity to do so. Now I know there is bound to be a time limit at such meetings but Question Time this wasnt! Certainly had the feel of being more a rigged discussion than an open one >:(Still, given my experiences of previous meetings maybe I shouldnt have been so surprised :(This made worse by the fact that some councillors give the distinct impression that they are talking down to you.Any sort of Power corrupts sort of thing I guess...

There pay packets aren't our council kling-ons gave themselves a whopping 12% pay rise no wonder they can't give us manual council workers a pay rise.
