Hi guys n girls,
I know i've not posted much on here since registering, work keeps me away all week, but just an update.
My wife's 97 2.0l GLS had several issues, hence finding this forum ;D, which came to a head about 6 weeks ago, with chronic water loss, but no sign of where it was going.
Under pressure testing, found rad had gone at bottom, not good as it was only a year old :( and the expansion tank was leaking around the neck, so changed both, so far so good, then the idle became erratic, so changed MAF unit, but still losing water, so after about 2 weeks of messing around, took it to our favourite Vauxhall dealer, we know the service manager very well there, and he came back with a head gasket gone :'(, not good as it had only been done 18 months previous, and had the head skimmed.
Alas, it was going to be too costly to put right, which we can't afford at present, shame because she has been a great car over the 21 years+ we have had her, sad to see her go, but needs must.
2 days later, wife has a new Omega, got reasonable price for old one and good price on this one, 2003 '03' reg 2.2ltr CD auto, again in silver, facelift version, ;D ;D, 2 previous owners , one VERY HAPPY wife :y

I hope this one does her equally well :y

Wasn't sure on the reference to 21 years+ ownership of a 97 though ???

your right pscocoa, must have been thinking of mine at time of writing, yes it's only 14 years, still not bad though.
have had a couple of good reports on new car from people we know, who know the car through last owner, so looking good already.
