Title: WIM Booked!
Post by: tunnie on 07 November 2011, 11:06:03
So I'm booked in on Wednesday for a WIM session for my 3.2, insurance documentation has arrived so I will be taxing it tomorrow.

Not long before my 3.2 Elite will be fully legal and back on the road!  :D

Got new wishbones, new tyres all around, new rear shocks (springs also ready to go on)

Got some heavy "testing" to do!  ;D

In fact, it might be worth checking the sump and oil pick up are clear. It's been stood a long time.

it was very tappety on a warm up run to the MOT, fine at idle leaving, but very noisy after some high speed runs.

I've already given it an oil change, so it will be running on some fresh stuff to WIM. I'll see how that goes

Hmm. I'd be checking the pickup. Once the lifters have quietened down, it's odd for them to get noisy again. :-\

initially running at idle (after being stood for some time) it sounded nice at idle. Only after a 20 minute drive did it get loud, was trying to clean up discs, stopped and checked them, felt tappets were tad loud.

Fresh oil is in, sounded better on just a start up, but waiting to get it legal before taking it out again.

I agree with Kevin, Mark - you don't want a conrod coming through the block... :y

Is it simply a question of dropping the sump?

Whats need to seal it again on re-fitting?  :-\

VX Grey sealant IIRC, not black.
