Bought a "new" Omega a few weeks ago ('52 V6 CDX Estate)
Whining noise - posted details here - maybe tyre, maybe something else.
Anyway tyres look kinda strange. Normally on most tyres the tread is lateral and/or longitudinal. These are kinda curly, look at the pic.
Anyone seen tread like this before ? Could this be the cause of the whining noise ?
Anyway, taking car to garage tomorrow to get this sorted once and for all

Plenty of performance tyres out there with tread like that, so that shouldn't be the direct cause of any problems.. what are the tyres, though? Cheap no-names or a brand?

Look a bit like Sunny tyres to me.

TDF = The Ditch Finders. Normally applied to cheap laminated plastic chinese tyres with no grip that will send you into a ditch at the slightest sniff :y

Same tread pattern as the toyo's that my mig had on the back, they were quiet though.
-
well i got the same on mine got no prob s with them at all and i dont go slow in corners
-
Common enough tread pattern.
Some tyres are noisy, and grip
Some tyres are quiet, and don't grip
Some tyres, mostly budget, are noisy and dont grip.

LOL ! Ok, very encouraging ???
Anyway, dropped car off at garage this evening, a small local independant thats been doing my cars for a few years, so I trust 'em.
Asked 'em to check that the noise isn't something nasty, wheel bearings or whatever. Also doing cambelt + kit £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ ouch ! But off to Germany next week, need some confidence that all's ok.

Standard tread pattern of a couple of years ago (eg toyo) - but are they on the right way round - this tread pattern is directional ;)

Not really. Big trade exhibition in Dusseldorf. I prefer to drive instead of all the hassle of flying. Plus I get to fill the back of the car with wine in France on the way back ! ;)
