I've been reading all the different threads Kevin, and have basically succeeded in confusing the hell out of myself! ::)
I've already got a towbar with single electrics, which works fine. I'm now wanting to upgrade it to twin electrics...
Now I've read stuff about self switching split charge relays, rear fog cut-out, warning lights on the instrument cluster, etc, etc.... :-\
I want to do it properly, and I only want to do it once, so if someone can clarify things a bit that would be useful. It could then maybe be used as part of a How-To eventually. :y

If you're just upgrading to twin electrics then there's not much Omega specific information you need.
You need to run a 12v supply from the battery to the rear with a suitably rated cable and fuse and then use a caravan charge relay to provide the vatious supplies to the 12S socket from that.
There's plenty of information on the internet for wiring a 12S socket and relay, for example:

The best route to run the wire from the battery is probably through one of the large rubber grommets in the pollen filter compartment, then down behind the passenger kick panel, back to the rear of the car under the sill trim panels.
Use a size of wire that will comfortably cope with the current draw of your caravan, or the largest you can if you also want to charge the caravan batteries on the move. I used thinwall 40A cable with a 40A fuse in the engine bay for my amp in the boot. Excactly the same principle. :y

From what I can remember, when I did my estate.
There is a factory fitted plug in the rear recess, there is on the facelift anyway, where the spare tyre is and I'm fairly sure there is a large brown wire among the loom to the plug.
But I could have my wires crossed ::) on what your asking.

Someone provided this info for me when i did mine.
Vehicle harness
Black/blue - fog light
black/white - left indicator
red - permanent 12v
grey/black - left tail lamp
black/yellow - brake lamp
grey/red - right tail lamp
black/green - right indicator
brown/chassis - negative
white/black - reverse
towbar colours
blue - fog
green - r/h indicator
white - earth
black - l/h tail lamp
yellow - l/h indicator
brown - r/h tail lamp
red - brake lights
purple - fog
I fitted a 12n and just cut into the wires before the plug and used the terminal connectors, scotch locks are rubbish. I didn't take a feed from the cluster or the relay in/under the glovebox etc, or whatever it is you're meant to do to still allow the check control to still work, and eveything works fine when my trailers are connected up. You'll also need to wire in a repeater sounder according to the instructions you get with it (i.e. the right colour to wire, but that's easy).

Thanks for all the replies, and I apologise if I didn't make things 100% clear in my 1st post. I realise that it's not always possible to read every post for every thread in detail.
Anyway, I have been off studying the info Kevin supplied, and I'm much more clued up on the 12S socket wiring now. I'm definately going to proceed with the self-switching relay idea.
Just a couple of questions now remain...
Pin 5 says optional warning light. What is this exactly? Is this related to the towbar light in the instrument cluster with no bulb in it? What does it warn of? How is it connected up?
Is it possible to get the brake light fail system that brings a message up on the screen to monitor the caravan brake lights as well?

If you wire your brake light via the trailer check relay control that lives either behind the glove box (facelift) or above the driver's feet (pre facelift) you will monitor your caravan's brake light.

Never heard of the optional warning light. :-\ :-\ Newer caravans have a 'habitation' relay that turns off all power points & lights etc in your van when attached to your car. :y

Right, I'm getting there...
So to get the warning light on the dash working, I need to fit a bulb and change the flasher unit for a 4-pin jobbie. Would I be right in thinking that I need an RFL6 as shown here...

It looks to be Yes on both accounts. I bought mine from Halfords, ISTR I only had a choice of one 4 pin relay. Your local towbar 'specialist' will have a voltage senstive relay on the shelf. :y :y

Been following this thread, it prompted me to fit the four pin flasher relay and the repeater light in the dash and get rid of the beeper, which at times was driving me mad.
When my tow bar was fitted (Vauxhall dealer) they spliced into the wiring loom. Now if I fitted a brake light check relay, would it work wired up this way.
The reason I ask is that people keep mentioning that there is a plug behind the spare wheel by the rear left light cluster, I've looked, even used a mirror to look under the wing but I cannot find it :-[ :'(
Don't want to pinch the thread but is my Mig different from every other ;) ;)

The plug should middle-ish of the trim at the rear ege of the boot. It's a square 9 pin including a feed for your caravan's fridge/charging supplied by a fuse under the steering column.

Why do you have 2 contact boxes and why not a single 13 pin? Is there a special reason.
Find it ugly too have two of those things under my bumper. even hate the 1 I have under my car.
I would like anyone on attacks but just curious.

For some strange reason, in the UK when we added the 12S socket years ago as rear fog lights were added to cars & nicked the feed from the 12N socket that used to be used for the caravan's fridge &/or charging, we seemed to stall & not progress from that. The 12S isn't the best of sockets either, it's not uncommon to find the pin suppyling the fridge to burn out. While continental Europe progressed and came up with (various ???) 13 pin sockets we didn't & kept 2 sockets.
We are catching up though, all new caravans now come with a 13 pin plug. :y :y I have upgraded both my car & caravan.
A couple of years ago in France I offered my help to a Dutch man who had ripped his socket from his car, it was 13 pin, but different from mine. It had the old style round 12N pins in the middle & had flat spade connectors around the edge, presumably for his caravan's charging & fridge.

here we have three systems.
standard 7 pole
Jeager 13 plig
and Multicon feder 7 pin edge connectors for additional 8 to 13 This is what you saw on the Dutchman his car.
Multicon west is the same as above but has de additional pins more in the center instead on the edge.
