Omega actually means the 'end' or 'last'. As in the biblical phrase "I am the alpha and the omega" (I am the beginning or start and the end or last).
I would reckon that Vauxhall called this model the Omega because at that time it was the last word in what they could provide and so the Omega name was given to its then luxury flagship model with all of its bells and whistles.

This may be of some use to members struggling with the less appealing aspects of maintaining an Omega - howsoever the name is pronounced.

Methinks we've had this before two or three years ago. It seems to be down to how you pronounce the "O" & to regional accents which as a relatively small group of islands we have many.
Given my southern accent i pronounce it somewhere between Ameega & Umeega, definitely not Ohmeega that just sounds odd regardless of any local twang.

Twiglet pronounces it Um ay ga - but he is from silly Suffolk. :D ;D
