Title: bubbling noise from air pump.
Post by: Ewan on 13 November 2011, 16:59:49
My vehicle is making this strange hollow bubbling/knocking noise from the front nearside when the engine is running. It seems to decrease as it comes up to temperature. I'm assuming that it's the secondary air injection pump, but what could it be doing to make that noise? The car had a major head gasket blow with water everywhere throughout the engine. Could some of it have found it's way into the workings of the pump?

Great, thanks for that. I am getting an EML code 46 for the pump motor - voltage low. Will that be enough to make the engine run in emergency mode?

just remove the fuse or unplug the lead, or if you still want to you it take the pipe off the bottom part of the fan inside pass front wing next to horns, pull the pipe off has a pipe clip then drain the water out, can turn engine on so that the fan start that will empty it out. should not put engine in limp mode. if removing fuse and not using the motor should rest code after a few turns on and running, or rest code with tec2.
