Title: Annother Mobile Phone thread
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 15 November 2011, 22:28:25
Had a mobile phone with the same number from the days of the Phillips Savvy, recently had the Nokia 6300 and Samsung Tocco lite, both good phones and still in daily use by me.

Took the jump and got a Samsung Gallaxy 2S on contract (1st ever contract) does every thing I need plus more and is bloody rapid, took it with the 3 network for the bonuses they offer and the fact my GF has a phone with them.

Still getting used the phone but a couple of daft questions hopefully someone can help with.

3 network is there a way of withholding random numbers like I can with BT 141?

sim copying, from older ones to the newer 3g ones, new phones dont seem to want to know the older sim cards.?

Plus apps and games.  Allready found some stuff, and all the normall stuff I suppose we have all tried, torch, bar code reader etc.  but what other apps are worth bothering wih.

TIA.   :y

1) If you get a googlemail email account (gmail) and log that into your phone
2) Install from android market "chrome to phone"
3) On your pc, use google webbrowser and install from the android market "chrome to phone"

Step 3 will put a small "phone" icon on the right side of your browser next to the search bar

Using google browser, if you see any websites you want on your phone, kust click the "phone" icon and it sends it directly to your mobile!

When using android market, you can browse the apps and have it sent to you phone directly too, very handy!

I've just got the HTC Sensation XL, like the Galaxy S2, bloody amazing bit of kit....enjoy :)

Only issue I've had with "old" SIM cards is that they couldn't do 3G, never had a problem with anything else.

All depends on what you want to do I guess, check your PM for an incoming link.

PS

If you think the SII is quick now, wait till you see it running CheckROM Revolution HD  ;)

Some of the apps I use:

3G Watchdog
Opera
ESPN Goals
F1.com 2011
Mini Info
PDF Viewer
Places Directory
RAC Traffic
Torque - particularly useful for my 3.2 :P

There's a plethora of other useful stuff too.

I've just upgraded to that over the phone this morning.

It gets launched tomorrow, I should have it in a couple days.

Hardware wise it's a side step from the S2, but the OS and screen are very nice upgrades.  Looking forward to it!

Your welcome.

It's nice for me to be able to help with advice, rather than having to keep asking for it! ::)

I've been eligable for a free up-grade for well over two months, but I'm more than happy with my HTC Desire. My only complaint with the Desire is the somewhat weak and 'tinny' sounding speaker. Apart from that, it's grrrreat !!  :y

Have they improved the speaker on the Sensation ?

Yes they have, much much better.  But that is on the sensation XL, the sensation, I don't know I'm afraid :-X

Well impressed with it  :y

Unfortunately you are never going to get great sounding speakers on mobile phones simply due to the size constraints.
Quite a few manufacturers make speaker pods for their phones that produce acceptable results if you are looking for background music, but if you want more than that then the only real solution is decent headphones (I have the Beyer Dynamic DTX 60's, and they really perform).
