Title: lead names insurance?
Post by: raywilb on 15 November 2011, 23:11:35
a guy i do odd bricklaying work for is driving a van that is insured with his wife as the lead name & him as a named driver. they now have asked me if i,d like to be included as a named driver. my problem is i know for a fact that by declaring her hubby as being a full u/k license holder she has made a false declaration initially ( he,s no license whats- soever) therefore would i be insured.  my thought are i would not  :-\

The insurance company would use that to declare the cover void I would imagine - so in those circumstances your cover would then also be void.

Good sense dictates that you should avoid taking up the offer and drop a dime to the local fuzz about an unlicensed - and uninsured - driver using the roads.

Your already guilty of one offence imo, that would make you clearly guilty of several more serious ones. ;)
Shop them,they deserve it.

think of insurance companies as having a bigger ''clause department'' than sales department.

you know theyre in the wrong - dont get involved  :y

funny enough   martin lewis ( martins money markets ) covered such insurance scams as this just to make insurance cheaper....he insists...do..not..do..it...if you had an accident and it all came to light you would not be insured......is it realy worth the worry....also consider if you had an accident in your car..not your fault, how would you feel to find out that the person whos fault it was was doing this scam and therefore not insured.....please say no....

Doesn't have to involve her. You only have to tip off the police with the registration number and offer information that you believe the driver to be unlicensed. They'll probably do nothing pull him next time they spot him. Hopefully before he hurts someone or trashes their pride and joy.

No wonder the insurance premiums are so high for the rest of us!
Do not bother to get yourself on it because the insurance will be cancelled if the truth became known to the insurers. They would immediately suspend the insurance and demand to see the driving licences of all named drivers. At the end of the day it is fraud, pure and simple and that is a criminal offence.
My personal opinion is that you should do the decent thing and report it so no poor innocent gets maimed or killed by someone who does not hold a licence.
Can you really afford to  :-X when it might be you or your family who is the victim?
