Post by: Jimbob on 18 October 2006, 14:06:36
As the title really,
What is the easiest was of getting a trade card
Which is the cheapest club to join? Is the dark side (or other clubs) a 1 off fee, or yearly subscription?

Cheers

Cheapest is to blag a proper one from dealer

Club memberships are an annual fee, and you have no access to pricelists (no book or website logon)

Since my local dealer (lookers) has moved from a shed to a posh new building, they seem to be less than helpful :(
I will have a go when I go for some brake pads, but expect no joy.
Think I will have to settle for a vboa type membership.

Autobahnstormers are £20 per year iirc, and are reasonably prompt in sending out.

Migweb are a little cheaper, but I've heard can be a little slow.

I believe VxON are still waiting for their VBOA application to fully go through...

Nip to your local dealer next time you need a service, buys some of the cheaper bits and start chatting to the parts manager about the cars you are servicing, you will probably get trade price.  Next time, casually ask what this trade club you keep hearing about is all about,  get and fill in the forms and wait for the thump on the doormat as your trade club book arrives.  Worked for me, and as Mark, Matchless, Theboy, Robin_hood and Issunaz will attest,  a Mechanic I aint!!   ;D

Worked for me too  ;) After 2nd attempt.

Funny thing is now.....after a year or so at buying parts at 'so' called trade price from vx dealer before getting TC card, vx parts guy used to really smile when i walked in and remember my name, be friendly etc etc.....now I got the TC card his attitude seems to have changed  ;D
Its like .....oh no not you again  ;D

But i have since discovered that now.....since ive used my trade club card a couple of times.....vx dealer wont give me any discount on parts that aint TC....whereas they used to give me 'trade' price before  :(

I bought crank sensor for my 2.2 today....its not on TC card  :( got charged full RRP for it   :(

My dealers tend to give me non TC stuff at trade price so long as in stock...
