Title: Vision FM Stereo Modulator
Post by: Boiler Man on 18 November 2011, 13:52:33
Hi Guys

Sorry if this has been covered before. I have done searches, but not really come up with anything.

After reading a few threads on the subject I have just purchased a Vision FM modulator from DND Services.

Looks pretty straight forward install.

But I was looking for advice from any of you who have fitted one in their Omega's.

Where is the best place to position the device in the miggy and where is the best place to pick up the power.

I'm positioning my iphone right of the Steering wheel on a vent mount.

Any help or pic's would be very much appreciated.  :y

Thanks In Anticipation Gary.

Thanks for buying from me   :y

Pick up power from something that is Ignition fed and that way you will avoid leaving it switched on when ignition is off.

Don`t forget to wire a switch in line, so you can turn it on and off independantly as you wish

Got to be honest, as I don't use it that often, and I'm far too tight to buy 2 (ssshh, don't tell Dave DND ;D), I shoved a ciggy plug on end, and it just sits in the handbrake well, along with the phone and other assorted crap.

I find it handy to be 'portable'

no gayphone is ideal as a music player (whatever the device its powering) unless you use airplane mode.

Just stuck a ciggy adapter on the end and it lives in my cubby, power via rear 12v socket, no wires trailing all over the place

Thanks, for the replies guys,

Has anyone fitted these units permanent in the miggy?  ::)

Mine is a facelift and I wanted to maybe have it in or behind the small drop down draw to the right of the steering wheel, so I could pull the lead out when required.

The portable idea has it's advantages though ::) I havent seen the ciggy lighter adaptors on there own, where would I get one form H##fords?

Thanks again for your replies, much appreciated. :y

Ps To Dave DND - Your welcome, looks a good bit of kit. I cant wait to try it. :y

Craplin, most auto shops, or cut one off an old 12v device that no longer works...

Convention is that centre pin is + (or has been since dynamos and positive earth fell out of favour in he 1960's).

+ wire will probably be red and - black.

(I would always check the polarity with a multimeter though having fried a friends radio in my youth Oops :-[)

Thanks Andy H. Like the H**ford one most of these wires are Black & Black. I can hopefully open them up.

But I am being stupid.  :-[

Because as you say, I can always test it with my multimeter.  ::) :y

To many beers last night I think. :y

I don't think there is a phone full stop that comes with anywhere near decent software/hardware to do the job properly where music is concerned.
