Hopefully shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes :)
Would you all be able to go to your Private Messages Inboxes, and delete any messages you no longer require?
That would be much appreciated :y

I presume its ok to delete sent messages - it doesnt remove from recipients inbox ?

I didn't have many.. but now there's only one little lonesome message sitting there.
I feel so unloved :'(

It used to be possible on the old yabb site. There was often an option to remove message from recipients inbox if they hadnt read it.
Used it a few times after the red mist had lifted. ;) ::)

We have an insanely high number of PM's in the system.
Since last night, its dropped by around 7000, so thanks everyone, but we still have tens of thousands in the system.
Have you seen the price of disks nowadays :o, adding more space isn't really an option ;)

Is the hardware starting to feel it Jaime? ;D
Its the loading during the backups - to keep OOF up, the DB is replicated to another DB (which is where the backups are done - matters little if replica has locks on it for ages), but (due to my tightness ::)) that 2nd server is on the same physical hardware ;)

auto purge anything older than 60 days :y

I was going to say 'please NO' but...........
I used to delete the chaff but keep PM's with phone numbers, addresses, part numbers or prices.
I have now set new PMs to generate a notification email so I won't need to keep any old messages. :y
Would be nice to be able to send my last remaining old ones as emails too. ;)

I hoped a little nudge would be enough ;)

Still could do with more, still the wrong side of 60k PMs knocking about, but thanks to those who have done some housekeeping, its made a big difference so far :y
-

I have indeed, and it would appear I now have a small fortune (in hardware) stashed in the cupboard thanks to the weather ;D
-
Done, 89 down to 15 on both in and out.
Whens the old Yabb site going down?, probably need to recover some pm info from there.?
-
Got rid of mine too. Only around 40 or so, but every little helps!

I'd probably get them off now if they are important to you ;)
