You'll need the chip from your old key... :y
-
Hi Thanks i have tried to put the top of the key on the new key but do i need to put the chip in the new key also
I have put a complete ignition on it including the new boxes for the wire to connect into
-
ihave also had a ecu with the new ignition do i need to replace that also to work on the new key
-
Engine ECU, Immobiliser ECU and transponders all paired to each other.
Why did you change Immobilser ECU? Did you get immobiliser PIN with the replacement immobiliser?
-
Ah, I might have misunderstood.
Remove the transponder from your new key, and put in the one from your old key :y

ECU sets on older Vauxhalls come in a matching set of three parts.
Chip from the key, ignition transponder that sits on the ignition barrel, and the ECU.
You can NOT interchange parts from other cars to replace a broken piece unless you have access to Tech2 or Tech2 compatible diagnostic kit.
So, if your only reason for changing the ignition key is because the barrell was knackered, you need to remove the chip that is in the replacement key and put in the chip from your old key.

Is the alarm ecu also paired to the other components ? :-\

No, like the Vectra, the Alarm/Central Locking ECU is paired to the remote locking part of the key.

Presuambly your original setup did work? And you're changing due to a mechanical issue with key/barrel?
If so, you want to be using your original engine ecu, your original immobiliser ecu (ring around ign barrel) and original transponder from your original key.
You *MUST* remove the new transponder and keep it out of range.

got the car started going good but i have had trouble to get the ecu imobiliser of the ignition so just wired in the original one(off the original ignition) now to get it to work but can anyone tell me how to get the ring off the ignition to remove the ecu with the original one
